I loved this CD, i did not like the one from Dian Krall i dont think she should work with her again, althouhg i have all the music of Barbra that one I dont think that was a right choice. I was expecting so much and is kind of borimg. This is great!!!!!!

For this price wow, dvd and cd. I first listened to the cd, and thought very good. Then on three separate viewings in my large theater room, I had friends over to watch the dvd. We were all transfered to the Village Vanguard. What a wonderful, very close and intimate evening. Love it. Get it if you are fan of Barbra's. Maybe get it any way. The price is a steel. Wish it was in blu ray,

This dvd was exciting and wonderful, in spite of the fact that it was damaged and had to be returned for a replacement.

This is indeed Barbra's special one night only performance at The Village Vanguard. It is a DVD/CD I have had for quite a while, but could not find words to express my feelings about - I'm not sure I can even today.
Before the release of this project Barbra had been opining publicly, without any fear, about retirement, which nearly broke my heart. Yet, I understand her reasons for asking such an honest question. Subsequently, when I first watched her live performance at The Village Vanguard, emotions were running high here in the house. I wondered, `Is it okay to let Barbra go - to let her retire from recording, and concerts?' I simply still can't answer that question. The final decision is, of course, Barbra's, not ours. With Barbra's question in mind, suddenly her discussion of the topic gave expression to something quite special, and perhaps of greater importance than any concert Barbra has recorded for us to receive a share of from such a distance.
Watching Barbra sing in such an intimate setting, every moment raised stirring emotions that I have never experienced with her past concert films. This one brilliant evening brings back so many wonderful memories of watching Barbra becoming the great artist she is today and how we have all grown with her throughout the years. While I still want to hold on to Barbra as a wonderful artist, and although the CD does capture the evening well, for me, the concert film offers much more than one can explain. Therefore, for all of us who have indeed watched the very public life of Barbra Streisand, the entertainer, gather energy, and enter the stratosphere, this one small package is an important item to obtain for ones collection. As for me, I do not listen to the recording, I prefer to watch the concert, because it occupies a certain position somewhere between joyous and painful. If Barbra does decide to retire from the concert arena, One Night Only at The Village Vanguard will always be her exquisite swansong from that sphere of her professional life.
